LYNX and VOTRAN, Volusia County's public transportation company have teamed up to make driving less stressful. Link 200 began service on October 5 and provides express bus service from Orange City to Orlando. The service targets 20,000 commuters who travel daily from Volusia County to Orlando.
LYNX ridership continues to increase because we are providing Central Floridians with the services they want. The Volusia-Orlando Express is not only a service people want, but an example of how LYNX and VOTRAN are working together to make life better for commuters in the entire Central Florida region.
Citing the tension from driving in congested traffic on I-4, limited and expensive parking, the Link 200 is urging commuters to ride, relax, and arrive ready to face the day. "LYNX and VOTRAN are recognizing that the congestion on I-4 is a regional problem, and that the solution requires a regional partnership between LYNX and VOTRAN," said VOTRAN General Manager Ken Fisher.
Volusia County Government funds the service with a 50 percent matching grant from the Florida Department of Transportation. The grant covers a two-year period and future funding will be determined by the number of riders using the service. Buses will depart every half-hour beginning at 6 a.m. from Orange City. One way fares are $2 for adults, $1 for seniors, disabled and youths 6-17 years old. For more information on this service, please contact the LYNX customer service department at (407) 841-LYNX (5969).
