Adopt A LYNX Bus Stop

LYNX will partner with the City of Orlando on a program to clean and maintain bus stops around the city.

The effort is part of the city's "Keep Orlando Beautiful"program and started with a dedication ceremony featuring Mayor Buddy Dyer at City Hall. "Keep Orlando Beautiful" (KOB) will help LYNX provide the trash pick-up sticks, trash bags and safety vests to participants. KOB also will monitor and compile reports on the amount of litter removed from bus stops, number of volunteers and volunteer hours performed.

The initial focus will be on 16 stops (all listed below) along State Road 436 and the Kirkman Road corridor. These are stops that have been identified because they have the highest concerns/complaints about litter.

LYNX has designated one bus from its fleet to promote the Adopt A Stop program. That bus features the official "Adopt A Stop" logo and is currently on the road. LYNX expects to include Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties as partners in the program in the near future.

LYNX will recruit businesses to participate in the partnership program by targeting companies with "Employee Volunteer Programs." LYNX also will pursue its existing business partners for Adoption of Stops. Individuals who would like to participate can join by calling LYNX Commuter Services at 407-254-6021.

Organizations and individuals will receive recognition and incentives for continued involvement through video and photos of clean-up operations on Golynx TV. City Commissioners and the LYNX Board of Directors will recognize participants at public meetings and there will be coverage of the program in newsletters, websites, local media as well as placards stating "This Stop Adopted By ..."
