20th Public Service Bus Contest Winners Announced

Organizations that support Orange, Seminole and Osceola counties will be among the eight non-profit agencies featured on the Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority (LYNX) 2023-24 Public Service Bus.

Orange County Mayor and LYNX Chair Jerry L. Demings and LYNX Chief Executive Officer Tiffany Homler Hawkins will unveil the bus 10 a.m. Aug. 7.  The event will be held in front of the LYNX Central Station downtown Orlando terminal located at 455. N. Garland Ave., 32801.

Each organization will receive free exposure by having their logos placed on a 40-foot LYNX bus traveling across Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties for the next 12 months. Each winner was selected in a random drawing of qualified applicants with 501(c)(3) status and operate on budgets of less than $1.5 million annually.

LYNX 2023-24 Public Service Bus Contest Winners:  

A Hero For Kids, Inc. (Saint Cloud) helps families, teachers and Veterans through support and guidance, empowering others to achieve their goals and benefiting thousands each year through volunteer efforts.

Central Florida Diaper Bank, Inc. (Winter Garden) ensures mothers and families with infants and toddlers up to 3 years of age have access to diapers, childcare essentials and feminine hygiene products.

Christian Tech Center Ministries (Longwood) provides free computer repair services, tech literacy workshops and computer distribution for individuals and families of greatest need.

Eight Waves (Oakland) offers initiatives to support children and families including reading intervention, mentorship, hygiene help and more to empower families and create lasting change.

The Mental Health Association of Central Florida (Orlando) provides support for individuals with mental illness and promotes mental health for everyone.

The Picnic Project, Inc. (Sanford) organizes food events, provides help with grocery shopping, offers health classes and connects individuals with community resources.

Restore Outreach, Inc. (Kissimmee)  hosts monthly outreach events that provide essential resources like meals, clothing, hygiene items and job readiness assistance to those in need.

Write To Be Scene, Inc. (Orlando) produces workshops and live performance opportunities designed to amplify teen voices within low-income and high-crime rate communities in Orange County.
